We know the power of reading modeled from a young age. Not all kids have this opportunity at home, but we can at school!
Community mentors spend time with students who are at risk of not wanting to read. Providing them with high quality books from authors and series kids love helps them to see the enjoyment of reading. We call the adults and students in this program Reading Champions because we know that, together, great things will come. Books and authors are champions for them too! As the late, great educator Rita Pierson said, "Every child deserves a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best they can possibly be."
