My class is the class that students look forward to coming to everyday. Imagine showing up to class and having all your supplies gone by the end of the year. With dwindling art budgets, big projects must be pushed to the side in order to supply for the masses.
Our school is located in a small farming community in central California. Agriculture remains the basis for for most employment in our little town, and poverty is extremely high. 100% of our students are designated socio-economically disadvantaged and are able to participate in the state's free breakfast and lunch program. 93% of our student-body is Hispanic (7% other), 31% of these students are designated English Language Learners, and 8% receive Migrant Services. Despite these challenges, our school boasts thriving enrollment in innovative programs like AVID, a strong AP program, an Agricultural program, and Success and Intervention classes.
