Over the past few years I have been asked by an increasing number of high school students who are part of the LGBTQ community for books on this subject(s). Our collection in this area, however, is sadly lacking as is our budget since we are a very large urban school district with many restraints on our budget. I am so happy to have these students feel comfortable enough to ask for these books, but it breaks my heart to have such a limited selection. With the abundance of well written inspirational young adult novels and non-fiction books in this area, I want to be able to provide these books for those who want them. These books will be marked with a discreet rainbow on the spine of the book for students to identify and will also be fully searchable in our card catalog. Any help in this effort would be greatly appreciated by the library staff and our LBGTQ students.
