The students I work with have been diagnosed with Autism and/or behavior disorders. These students have yet to master appropriate social skills and require sensory stimulation throughout their school day. They struggle with appropriate interactions with others and are encouraged to interact in a positive and productive manner.
Each of the students I work with is unique in every way. Students in my classroom are provided a supportive and welcoming environment where they receive specific academic instruction, as well as social skills instruction and sensory needs. Students also learn basic self-help skills, such as toileting, hand washing, and teeth brushing. The goal of my classroom environment is to help lead these students to independent success in school, at home and in public.
