I am a high school art teacher and constant art advocate. I feel that art is important in schools as a part of a well-rounded education. A lack of art in schools means a lack of creativity, innovation, and curiosity. Art can be a scary thing for some, but with the right projects, students can have fun and gain confidence.
Working with an at-risk population, my students sometimes find school as a last priority because of other responsibilities. A program that holds interest and helps students feel successful helps retain students, leading to success and graduation.
Please help me to maintain a competitive art program that will engage my students. Thank you so much for thinking of our kids.
