My classroom consists of 24 wonderful kids. Many of the kids like sports, play the piano, and enjoy sharing the adventures they have with their families outside of school. One of my teaching philosophies is that it is important that kids become lifelong learners. One way I create lifelong learners in my classroom is incorporating their interests in my lessons. For example, in math we solve real world problems that include buying sports equipment or musical instruments. I have a movie-themed classroom and students earn O.S.C.A.R.s (Outstanding Student Care, Attitude, and Responsibility) when they are caught being good. I also have a V.I.P. of the Week in which one student gets to be our star student. During his/her week, the V.I.P. gets to sit in a special director's chair, share a poster about his/her family, read a favorite book to the class, and share a favorite thing.
