Providing a flexible seating classroom will provide students the opportunity to work in a community that is best tailored for their needs. The classroom will give them guided choice to help them find how they learn best and then allow them that environment to happen. This will give them another opportunity to take ownership in their learning as they develop life-long management skills. I am asking for a variety of different comfortable seating choices. I am also asking for different types of tables for students to use at a variety of different levels (standing, sitting in chairs, sitting on the floor).
The various tables and different types of seating will help them feel more comfortable and safe in their community. The choices that they get to make continuously in how they learn will also allow for another level of confidence as they move forward in their education. Students will be able to pick from standing, sitting in a chair, or using various comfortable seating arrangements. They will also be able to choose different groups depending on the subject areas and their needs. It will allow for a greater flow in the classroom.
A flexible seating arrangement setting has many benefits. Chiropractors say that sitting in traditional seating is one of the worst positions for your spine. It has also been shown in many studies that increased movement increases engagement and improves in student learning. Flexible seating helps with movement, core strength, and higher motivation.
