One of my absolute favorite units to teach in physical education class is ARCHERY! The kids love it and so do I! Initially they are a bit timid and shy about using a real bow and arrow but by the second or third day they are loving it.
I want the students to have the opportunity to self assess during the unit using the iPad's. Having this technology at their fingertips will give them a chance to see how their stance looks as we walk through the 11 steps to archery success. This will also give me another tool for assessment. Our class sizes are anywhere from 30-40 students which can make it hard to give the proper assessment and individual attention each student needs during the class period. I will use the iPad's from one class to the next to provide them with the proper individualized feed back needed for them to feel confident in their skill to shoot a bow and arrow.
Not only will the iPad's be used in our archery unit but we will also use them during our fitness unit, yoga unit, fitness testing, dance unit, and so much more! The possibilities are endless with this tool in our classroom. From self assessment to videos of proper fitness form to circuit training this will be just the beginning of our technologically advanced physical education class!!!
