Flexible seating will help my classroom transform their classroom into a welcoming and engaging place, a place they want to be a part of. I am looking to enhance my classroom by introducing flexible seating into my learning environment. Many of the learners that I work with struggle to focus on learning in the desks and chairs that I have in the classroom. So many of them need to move around to get their energy out. In fact, many of my students on 504’s have a motor break worked right into their accommodations. At my school there is a lack of flexible seating for students and I want to provide an option that doesn’t require them to leave the classroom for a walk around the hallway.
I am hoping that by making this change in my room I will help them focus on math exploration while meeting their motor needs. These materials are just the beginning! By allowing them to get their wiggles out and to work comfortably this will improve their learning experiences. By funding this project I will remove more traditional learning furniture such as chairs and desks to allow for more movement.
