Our Living School Jump Start class is off to a fantastic start. Students are learning how to cook favorite New Orleans meals: friend fish, macaroni and cheese, salad, cabbage and more! In order to continue learning these essential skills, our fabulous teacher is heading to student's homes where she shares these lessons safely (masked and physically distanced). Mama C. needs your support to purchase portable cooking supplies to bring with her as she travels to teach our students. In these lessons, students are practicing many functional skills related to their IEP goals around meal preparation, reading and following directions, calculating measurements, and maintaining a clean environment.
Living School's motto, philosophy, and practice is LEARN BY DOING. We believe this is how students (of all ages) learn best, and we are committed to upholding this philosophy while maintaining the health and safety of our community.
