I teach English language arts to approximately 100 seventh and eighth grade students. In each class I have approximately 25 students of which approximately 20% are Hispanic. Our community is quite rural with just one K-8 school in our district. Our free and reduced lunch count is approximately 60% of our population. Most students take the bus to school. No one walks. Like other districts we are facing severe cuts that affect the performance of our students. One thing I have noticed....kids love coming to science! They are enthused and engaged.
