At any given moment of the day, my classroom is a safe, inviting place for students of various grade, ability, and interest levels. Students come to my classroom to learn, take a break, or seek support from myself or our amazing paraprofessionals. Some of my favorite time during the school day is spent teaching small group social/ emotional skill lessons and teaching reading intervention groups.
Not only are these times when I am teaching my students, but also when I am learning from them. My students have a great desire to do their best, but sometimes they need strategies to reach their full potential. Julia Cook gracefully teaches readers tough skills about flexibility and kindness in a fun and approachable way. Being able to read and discuss her books with my students would dramatically help ALL students, not just those who struggle with social skills.
Additionally, the classic box set readers will be able to help grow my students love of reading and their comprehension skills. With the skyrocketing interest in technology with children, being able to actively engage my students in a great book is really important to me. All of these titles have been chosen with my students in mind. We read every day in my reading intervention groups, and I would love to expand my library with these amazing titles.
