Thank you so much for your interest in supporting our classroom community! Our class includes 12 special education students who are diverse, bright, and brimming with potential. They are excited about learning, but it does not always come easy for them. An increased need for repetition makes learning new content difficult. Kinesthetic and visual learning styles make traditional teaching methods less effective. A read aloud, slideshow, and worksheet are rarely engaging enough to make the content stick. More than a third of the class does not speak English as their primary language at home. Most qualify for free or reduced price school lunches, a measure often used to indicate economic status. More than half of the students in the class are more than five full academic years behind in reading, writing, and math. Thank you again for your interest and support!
