The Fifth graders in my room come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Some come from wealthy parents, some don't know where their next meal will come from. The school is in a community that was once a flourishing mill community. As industry moved to other countries, so did the jobs. Many students don't have the tools (computers, tablets, Internet) to learn the skills needed to compete in the technological world we live. That is where I come in. I want nothing less than success for my students. I dream about them being on a level playing field with the students in neighboring communities where parents are doctors and lawyers. I maintain very high standards for my students. I want to instill in them and their families the importance of education. I try to reach each student where they are and then push them into success.
