I work with 17 students with special educational needs in grades kindergarten-3. These students are included for a part of their school day and get resource room support for their intensive learning and behavioral needs. They are amazing! Despite their challenges, they are positive, loving, dedicated, and hard-working kids! Our school is located in a large urban school district in Ohio. 95% of our students live under the poverty level, and hunger, violence, and safety are major concerns each and every day for the students' and their families. However, our school is a safe and loving environment for both students and community members. Our school has over 18% of students identified as having special needs; despite the needs, we are often left without adequate resources or support to help these kids. We work together to ensure that all of our students are treated with respect and are valued members of our school family. It is a wonderful place to be, and I am blessed to work there.
