All middle school students, even former refugees, like to know what's happening around the world. Now, imagine how frustrated and self-conscious you might feel trying to read news articles in a new language!
My students need a class set of Scholastic Action magazine which includes supports designed for English Language Learners.
I will use the vocabulary slideshows to provide visual support and audio pronunciation. Additionally, I will use the videos to provide background knowledge and the audio supported texts to build my students' comprehension skills.
In centers or as a class, my students will enjoy choosing a topic that interests them and one that they can read independently!
