My students have fallen in love with reading but I can't seem to get books fast enough for them. My students come from a low income area and I give them the books to keep when we finish. I wish you could see their faces when they get to take their books home.
I am a Special Education. My students are in the general education classroom and come to me daily becasue they are significantly behind in all areas of language arts. My students qualify for special education becasue they have have at least one learning disability. On top of that I have students who have a learning disability and are second language learners. My students want to learn and want to read. It just takes us more time and more practice to put the many pieces of language arts together in a way that makes sense to them.
My school is in an area where most families are living in poverty. All of my students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
