It is imperative that students learn how to read nonfiction! Most of the books students are exposed to in elementary grades are fiction! My students need/want to learn about the world, current events and how to be active members of a community. They need to be introduced to nonfiction topics and articles at their level! Being able to successfully read nonfiction texts, develops reading, communication, problem-solving, and thinking skills that my students will use their entire lives!
