My students love to wiggle and move. Along with three recesses during the day, I also incorporate movement breaks into our academic times. For some students even more movement is needed. While academic subjects are differentiated to meet the needs of students, most children are expected to sit in the same type of standard chairs. My students need different options for seating to allow them to be more comfortable and move more. This will help students be more focused, calm, and productive. Differentiated seating will lead to better behavior and higher quality work, which in turn will create a better learning environment for everybody.
