My students are energetic preschoolers! They have Autism, which include sensory processing disorder. The students in my classroom have all different levels of learning, and communication skills. The days are filled with laughter, learning, and the occasional sensory overload. This can include full meltdowns that need specific tools to work through.
We work on parent support and learning groups to help the families not only learn about their students needs, but to give support to let them know they are not alone.
The school I am at has many different needs, but the staff works together and tries to involve parents. We work hard to make sure the students know they are loved and cared for, but try to instill respect for themselves, their school, and the community. Unfortunately, the area we live in is poverty level. The school has a 66% free/reduced lunch program.
