My students are bright, inquisitive, creative and fun! They love reading and writing. I often find them writing responses to books that we have read in their free time. My students love each other. Each year I strive to build a community of learners; seeing them move onto first grade is bittersweet. This year, my students are really fascinated with bugs and critters! They are constantly bringing me their new discoveries on the playground.
I teach in small, rural, high poverty year-round school, grades K - 6th. My class size varies each year, ranging from 22 -28 students of Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic ethnicities. My classroom, as well as my school, sets high academic standards for our students. In my classroom, I am constantly looking for new and exciting ways to keep my students actively engaged and excited about learning!
