My students are going to be working this year on project based learning as well as STEM activities. Their first project is to take on the role of a restaurant owner. In this project they will use math, reading, science and more to accomplish their goal. The book The Lemonade War is the literature set that we have chosen for this project as it shows how children, about the same ages as my students, can be entrepreneurs in their own businesses.
Something as simple as a book can change my students lives forever. It shows them that there is so much more out there for them to explore, strive for and achieve. I want my students to have every chance possible to be successful not just in my class but in life. Reading this novel in conjunction with our project will show my students that they can do anything they want to in life. They don't have to settle for something less or be scared to try for those harder reaching goals.
