I want to give my students quality art paper and supplies to use when they create artwork in my classroom. I am putting together a lesson for my students on black paper with white crayons. The students are creating and learning about animal skeletons of their pets to celebrate the Mexican holiday; Day of the Dead. I only have the thin, faded and dim black construction paper right now and the white crayons do not pop out at you. I want them to be able to see when they make a mark on a paper how it pops out on vibrant quality paper without ripping.
I want them to be able to look at their powerful, colorful, vibrant artwork and be proud of their work.
I teach art in a high needs school in the Philadelphia School District. I teach students from kindergarten to 5th grade. A lot of my students have been through trauma in their lives and need an outlet to express themselves. My goal is to give my students that space where they can express themselves and their emotions through art. I will be doing projects that require quality paper to help enhance the students work.
