The students in my classroom have a wide range off special needs. One thing that they all have in common, is they love creating and exploring with hands on learning materials.
Our STEM center materials will capture the natural curiosity of my young students. While investigating new materials they will be introduced to higher order thinking by experimenting, designing, & problem solving. With our new project, students will be able to create roller coasters, bridges, and houses using blueprints or their own imagination. Students will also have the materials to create water pipelines that will integrate sensory play into their investigations.
The social skills that we focus on daily are embedded in these experiences. Students will have to communicate, cooperate, and work together in order to create their desired outcome.
