I teach at a school where education for early learners is valued and teachers hold their students in high regard. We set the bar high and we hold our students to be their best. My classroom is self contained; my students require more intensive interventions to accommodatie their social and communication skills and functional academics to help foster success in their day to day lives. I place deep value on allowing my students as much access to general education peers and curriculum as possible to meet their needs. In my classroom we work in close partnership with families, outside therapists, and coworkers so that we are prompting growth and developing skills for all of our students.
My goal, as the teacher of young students with Autism, is to give them the skills they need to access the general education setting when they move into Kindergarten.
