My ESL students have diverse needs both in language and in their educational needs. It is important that the materials they have available to read span many grade levels. Some students do not come to my classroom reading any English at all. I would like to provide Spanish titles for their pleasure reading which will make them comfortable able to take risks.
Literature and seating in the classroom must be differentiated and flexible for students to be a success.
I would like all students to have the opportunity to use wobble discs in the classroom. They do not take up too much room and even my students who are in wheelchairs will have the opportunity to enjoy these seats during the day.
Examples of using wobble discs are a check out area and allowing a few students at a time to use them if they feel fidgety or that they cannot sit without interrupting others during an activity or testing. Theses seats appeal to all learners and provide stimulation for students sensory processing disorder.
ESL students benefit tremendously from reading and listening. It would be excellent to purchase books that are at their independent reading level for our classroom.
