Many of my students don't have the luxury of getting new clothes and supplies for back to school. I teach in a school where 36% of the students come from low SES homes and qualify for our free and reduced lunch program. These students show up to school, eager to learn, but they are lacking in basic hygiene products and supplies. Every day I give out deodorant, tampons, and bandaids to students. I provide them with tissues and hand sanitizer. Many go the entire year without a binder or a pencil. Please help me eliminate these non-academic barriers to learning.
