My 6th grade science scholars are a diverse bunch of students, who come with many different learning needs. My classes are comprised of general education students, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities. The students, just like all of us, have many different styles of learning, such as visual, musical/auditory, verbal, kinesthetic, and logical.
Each year I notice that a great many of them love science, because regardless of their reading levels or past educational experiences, it gives them the opportunity to work hands-on with topics they love, and new ideas that connect them to the world around them. They are naturally curious and bubbling with new research and experimental ideas, and I try my hardest to provide them with a space in which to foster this curiosity and build their inquiry and design skills.
