P.E.-Students are required to have 120 minutes of Physical Education in the elementary school classroom.
Currently my students get 60 minute of physical education a week!
With collegiate background in athletics and coaching, I wish that I could bring in more of my love and enthusiasm for physical fitness-but the lack of resources really limits me.
There is an incredible amount of research stating the difference that it makes to incorporate physical activity.
Yet, the funding that our schools get continues to go to everything but this area. This school is located in an area surrounded by drugs and a high crime rate. Students are not able to freely play outside after school. The physical activity students get during school hours is what they get during their day. Which is definitely not enough. Most students are not part of soccer teams or little leagues. They are not learning the invaluable lessons one learns during team-sports. The soccer balls, basket balls, hula-hoops and jump ropes will help my students in creating a love for fitness and exercise. I will be able to teach them goal setting and discipline through sports and games.
Art-
This group of creative 3rd grade students have a lot to say. I want to give them the tools necessary to allow them to express themselves as artists. The paints, oil pastels and brushes will help our classroom in developing a love for art by creating beautiful masterpieces.
I wish to bring in athletics and arts as much as possible in my classroom. I am confident that this will continue to increase their enthusiasm about school. Thank you very much for your donations!
