The classroom library sets the ambient for the classroom. Students walk in and see the organization of books they will soon get their hands on. Their excitement to take books home fills me with joy. They get excited to go home and teach their family new strategies they learned at school. Teaching in a dual language classroom means that our library will be full of books in various languages. Students will practice reading books in Spanish and English. With the help of the Intelliscanner, I will be able to organize our books making it easier for students to check out books of their choices.
With practice and guidance, students will begin to take charge of their library by using the scanner to check in and check out their classmates books. This will teach all students responsibility and accountability. Students will learn how to take care of their books and what it means to hold a classroom job. My students will already come in excited for what 3rd grade will bring them so introducing them to a new gadget will only get them more engaged in our classroom learning.
