My students have an understanding of Spanish because of their home life, but they have not been introduced to Latin America literature, culture and history. I have 120 students who I will not only introduce complex conjugation to, but teach them about Magical Realism, populism in Latin America, baseball in the Dominican Republic, economic policy in Argentina amongst many more.
Our students are diverse and in need: 70% of our students are of Hispanic, 82% of our students are on free/reduced lunch, and 75% of our graduates being first-generation college students.
