I teach in a first grade classroom located in a small rural town in the Central Valley of California. Our K-6 school is located in an agricultural area where we serve first generation students who come from families with low incomes or without a college-going tradition. There are 446 students enrolled at my school and 70.3% are classified as English Language Learners. 99.3% of our students receive free or reduced price lunches.
