My third graders enjoy using our listening centers during small group reading time. As such, I am hoping to be able to obtain the Building Vocabulary Listening Center. These centers would be ideal when lesson planning. For example, I can envision planning a lesson with a group who is struggling with context clues. I can use direct small group instruction to teach context clues, then have the group use the listening center practice these skills. This center is diverse in that it also teaches prefixes, suffixes, antonyms, and multiple meanings. This center will go a long way in assisting my students.
Obtaining this listening center will help my students develop a strong understanding of written and verbal vocabulary. It will enhance student learning and I believe that they will find it rigorous, yet engaging. I also believe that this can be the foundation where they integrate reading words to giving these words meaning.
