These Chromebooks will continue to enhance the technology forward class I strive to create. My students currently have access to some class Chromebooks. I split the class into small groups and some use educational leveled reading and math programs called iReady or iStations while others do independent work or meet with me. Having a class set of Chromebooks is important to me because I would like to be able to teach students how to use the internet to do research and then type up a document and print. If I am showing the class how to click though a procedure, it would be great if they could all be on their own computer following step by step.
Learning by doing is so much more powerful than learning by just watching. During writing, all students could be on computers typing up their paragraphs or researching on the internet. I would also like to be able to use the technology to increase engagement with sites like Kahoot and Quizlet. These technological skills are crucial for students today.
Think about how often you use the computer to research a topic or write up a letter or email.
Giving all of my students complete access to computers will allow them to learn and practice important life skills.
