Our school provides afterschool care, tutoring, and enrichment for students in Kindergarten through 7th grade. It is my pleasure to be the teacher of the class and the director of the program. These students live in a very rural area that has limited afterschool academic programs. My students receive much-needed homework and tutoring help along with multi-sensory and STEM educational lessons taught by myself and other certified teachers. Many of our students are in extended day because they have special exceptionalities or struggle to be enriched. My students with learning differences are guided to achieve their unique academic and social potential in a nurturing community environment. These students come together to participate in activities that are new and outside of their comfort levels. These lessons build a dependence on teamwork and collaboration.
