I would like to have flexible seating for every child in my class. I want them to have the ability to decide where they would like to learn, how they want to learn, and to figure out how they learn best. I know I don't respond well to sitting in a desk all day so I don't expect my students to do it. Right now, we have no available floor seating and the students are lying on the floor to work or sitting in a desk. I would also like to have different options of movement if they do choose to sit (yoga balls, wiggle seats, etc).
I know that the ability to move around and to make a choice about it is going to change the entire feel of our classroom. Study after study show that brain development is linked to movement. I want to see my students engaged and concentrated. I want them to be able to stretch not only their brains but their bodies.
