We live in a world where STEM is everywhere. First graders need the experiences brought to them so that they can get interested in all the world has to offer. I would like to have various STEM bins for my students to explore throughout the day. These bins will be used during centers and as early finisher work. Students will have the opportunity to build and create while using everyday items such as pipe cleaners, straws, and tape. STEM education promotes critical thinking , problem solving and innovation, skills that are essential for 21st century students. First grade students have a natural curiosity in how things work. Providing these opportunities early in their education will foster lifelong STEM interest among my students.
