Students should explore, create, collaborate, design, and inspire, and with the proper technology and enough freedom, they can! Technology is only as effective as the way we use it and my students will be exploring our topics, making their ideas reality, individually, in partners, in groups, and as a class, mastering the all-important soft skills as they learn and create. By using our 1:1 technology with these wall-mounted collaboration screens, we can truly collaborate and communicate effectively to acheive our goals rather than simply have groups split up tasks to complete an assignment. We can watch a variety of TEDtalks on a particular topic at the same time and then regroup to discuss. We can virtually bring in guest speakers to share their views, experts to help mentor, and other students as we connect with other classrooms. We can have multiple presentations at once which means more practice and more learning. These screens also change the sometimes difficult "preferential seating" for students with special needs as the screens can provide instructions, examples, and samples only a few feet from each stduent rather than across the room. When we install these wall-mounted collaboration screens, we can truly make the best of the 1:1 technology we currently use.
