As a teacher in a low-income public school district, my students come from underprivileged areas where many of them have uneven upbringings. Most of my students receive free or reduced price lunches, and for many of them, this is their main healthy meal for the day. Although they face struggles every day, they still come to school everyday with smiles on their faces ready to learn! I try my best to provide engaging, rigorous lessons rooted in real-life experiences to prepare them for college, the military, or whatever their goal may be beyond high school.
On any given day, you can walk into my room and hear students asking thoughtful questions rooted in their curiosity about the world around them. They make science exciting for themselves everyday, and they truly listen to each other and value every idea - it's one of the things I love about teaching these AMAZING teens!
