My group consists of little first graders from various backgrounds and home situations. A number of students are English Language Learners with home languages like Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish, Vietnamese, Swahili. In my class we work on language goals to become proficient in English while encouraging them to be proud of their cultures and maintain that connection. My students are respectful, yet energetic. They are eager to learn and play each day. It is my goal to instill in them a Growth Mindset in which making mistakes is something they can welcome and learn from. The socio-economic background of the families at this school is as diverse as their languages. Many students receive free or reduced lunch prices. These students deserve the very best, thank you for helping me provide for them!
