My classroom has a diverse culture of students which consist of lower income families and high poverty. As a teacher in a Title 1 school, I see my student struggling with challenges in and out of the classroom everyday. I have several children still learning the English language. These children put forth every effort to succeed in reading, math, and writing. My class is in need of a classroom rug/carpet in order for the students to have assigned spaces to help with classroom management. In order for each student to concentrate during instructional reading time, they need a space to call their own. While on the carpet, they listen to stories and during the stories they think, pair up with a partner and share what they have heard in that part of the story. After the story and share time, they go to their tables to write about the story. If they are sitting too close to one another it is difficult for them to focus.
