This project will allow me to teach cultural diversity by opening minds, raising awareness, and encouraging diversity through food. Items requested for International Cultural Cuisine will be used for teaching students how to prepare and cook Italian, European, Mediterranean, and Spanish Cuisines.
Food functions as a universal language, allowing students to travel the world without leaving their immediate surroundings. Students learn best about different people and languages through first-hand experience. Students are sensory beings who learn through the experiences of touch, sight, smell, hear and taste. It’s challenging to incorporate all five senses into a cultural lesson but not when you let students experience new cultures through cuisine.
