My students range from Kindergarten through fifth grade. Every age will benefit with these instruments. We average 20-25 students in a classroom and I only have 5 Orff xylophones in each of the two schools I teach at. By expanding our instrumentation, more students can participate at a time. I would like to have 8 instruments at each school so at least 2/3 of the class can play at a time if we double up on a xylophone and we have a full variety of soprano, alto and bass xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels.
Orff instruments inspire creativity, increase self esteem and encourage cooperation through the experience of music making. With your contribution, my students will be enabled to create their own music or accompany others more often. There will be less time for music waiting and more time for music making and isn't that what music class is all about? When my kids are hands on and active, they are more successful in whatever we are doing. They will be able to play already written music, create their own music and work in small groups to create and perform the collaborative music the group created.
