There are 19 students in my third grade class. Of those 19, over half of the students have been determined to be Developmental Delayed (DD) in reading. These student have yet to Catch the Magic! through reading. It is difficult for them to be transformed from one place to another through reading. These DD students are currently reading at two or more grade levels behind their peers. This school is labeled a Title 1 school and if these students are not given an opportunity to improve their reading skills, they are at a greater risk of falling further behind and there is a greater risk of them dropping out of school. There is a lack of parental involvement here, therefore, the students need encouragement through as many avenues as possible.
