My students need the basics. I have a sun-filled lab, with nothing much more than desks and chairs. I was lucky enough to get lab materials donated from another closing school- but I am still missing the learning basics. I previously taught in another high needs district and left all of my materials with that community. This school is re-opening this September- rising from the ashes- and the whole community is excited about a fresh start.
My students need art supplies and tools- for diagraming, making models, charting, graphing and putting the A in STEAM!
My students need Dissection kits and graph paper. This is the first real lab experience these students will have. My lab was not used for over 10 years! Let's bring science and inquiry back to these students!
My students need hygiene help. Because we are a Title 1 school many of my students lack the basics at home too. We need pads, deodorant, lotion and combs. If my kids feel fresh- they will learn the best! And you'd be surprised but- on a rainy day- dry socks. Nothing is more distracting and uncomfortable than wet feet. Let's take away these simple barriers to the students learning.
