Unfortunately for Nevada, we are 50th in education, and have the worst ratings for distance learning due to increasing suicide rates in our students. Working from home has left students in situations in which they feel they have no other escape except taking their own lives.
No student should have to feel suicide is their only option. This project was created by the social worker at the school to help create a calming space for students to return to when school starts up again on March 1st, and the 2021-2022 school year.
The Zen Den will be a corner of each room in the school that contains these items inside, giving students access to ways to calm down, express their feelings, and be heard. The goal is to allow a positive outlet for students who are experiencing trouble with their emotions.
