The students in my school are from low income, Spanish speaking homes. Often times, parents are absent from homework time, because of having to work multiple jobs. Many of my students struggle from the time they reach my door and have been struggling the entire time they have been in school, which, for some has only been since 1st grade, not kindergarten or preschool! They are some of the hardest working, determined students that I have had the privilege of teaching in my 20+ years of teaching. They deserve so much more than their physical surroundings are currently offering them.
