Teaching in one of the highest poverty school districts in the country has its own challenges. To add extra hurdles my special education classroom is composed of learning and emotional support students. Many of them struggle greatly with mathematical concepts and most are reluctant to read. But, providing them with current and interesting topics to read about has my students engrossed and wanting to learn as much as possible.
