The students in my classroom get tired of doing the same types of learning activities over the 160 days we are in school. They need challenging activities to motivate them to think and I need to trust that I am getting quality materials to engage them. These high-interest reading activities were specifically designed to engage students of all abilities. Reading is important because it develops the mind. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability. Teaching my students various strategies as they read helps them develop their comprehension and language skills. It also helps them learn to listen.
