I teach at a large urban school in Southern California. Most students come from low-income families and all students are given free breakfast and lunch. The majority of my class is made up of second language learners who need access to books to develop their vocabulary and reading skills. Most of my students have little to no access to books at their reading level. I know that if they had these books they would develop an excitement for reading.
